Blog: Advice

With the various forms of new media made readily available in today's society, there are many ways to utilize it to improve Baruch College. First I believe that having a Facebook group page for every class would be beneficial, where students can share any notes missed in class and collaborate to create study guides. Furthermore, since many students are more likely to check their social media than their Baruch email, if a professor cancels class students can also find out through Facebook. In order to prevent cheating from occurring, the professor should also be an active member in the Facebook group and moderate the page to see if students are sharing contents not allowed, such as questions on the test.

Another suggestion will be to use Twitter in the classroom setting, where students can Tweet to each other during class regarding any questions or comments about the topic. All of the contents will be displayed on the board in front of the class so the professor can view it as well, and if many Tweets are unrelated to what they are learning, then those users can be blocked.
