Blog: Privacy

With the emergence of a digitalized society, we find that privacy and confidentiality is increasingly being infringed upon. People (especially teenagers) are revealing more about themselves online than ever before. Some seemingly harmless information such as your name, birthday, friends, and pictures are already sufficient enough for a hacker to invade your privacy. Furthermore, people should be mindful of what they post because they may unknowingly give away their location, opening up the field for potential stalkers to strike. Therefore it is extremely important to notice what content you are posting and to remember that everything that is on the internet is susceptible for people to see.

  1. People these days share too much information that doesn't need to be out there. Having public social media profiles increases the risk of your information being compromised. Even if one person has a private profile they should still be cautious before allowing people to follow them and view their posts. It is really easy to think that giving a website your email or full name is not harmful but it allows that company to create a profile of you and to be able to sell that information to other companies.
